The Bayou Hills Run, a fundraiser for Creative Learning Academy, began in 1978, when distance running was first hitting its stride as a popular national pastime. The event was a favorite of Pensacola area runners for many years. After a several-year hiatus, the race returned as a CLA fundraiser in 2010 and has grown each year. In 2010, about 400 runners participated. In 2013, almost a thousand runners hit the streets for the event, many of them from across the southeast and the far-flung corners of the country. What began as a school fundraiser has become a community event and a destination run.
Past funds raised by the Bayou Hills Run are used for campus improvements such as updating technology, improving facilities and upgrading other teaching and campus resources. This year's proceeds support CLA's Diversity Assistance Program.
